First of all, you need to refurbish your existing cabinets. You can either do this by simply repainting them, or by taking out the doors and either replacing them or refinishing them. If you paint your
cabinet frames a contrasting color to the kitchen walls, this can create very aesthetically appealing look for your kitchen.

You need not even paint them; instead, try sanding the doors down to the bare word and simply staining them with the desired shade. This is not only a relatively easy method but also very cost effective.

* Bringing in light from both sides of the room and house. Having windows on both ends or sides of the same room can create the sensation that your home is as big as all outdoors without sacrificing the closeness and comfort you're looking for.
